A086 Create a Task Force for Youth Formation and World Mission

Resolved, That the 81st General Convention acknowledges the importance of Christian formation among all the baptized and especially our youth in the expression of God’s love through acts of service to our neighbors in local and international communities; and be it further

Resolved, That the 81st General Convention direct the Standing Commissions on Formation and Ministry Development and World Mission to create a comprehensive report to define and develop such concepts as mission, global mission, and their intersection with youth formation to be presented at the 82nd General Convention for its consideration; and be it further

Resolved, That the Department of Faith Formation and the Offices of Global Partnership and Youth Ministries collaborate to identify and share already available resources and opportunities with the wider church - provinces, dioceses and congregations - for our youth to engage in and be formed within global mission contexts; and be it further

Resolved, That a Task Force be created to receive the work already generated by the aforementioned interim bodies and to report its recommendations to the 82nd General Convention. The Task Force shall consist of 14 number of people, consisting of 2 bishops, 2 priests, 2 deacons, 4 lay members, and 4 youth ages 13-21 with demonstrated leadership in their local churches and communities. At least 4 members shall have experience supervising global mission trips, and at least 4 members shall be from dioceses whose primary language is not English; and be it further

Resolved, That the General Convention requests a budget allocation of $30,000 for the implementation of this resolution.
